VESTIGIA I–V
Glen Middleton, 2026
Pigment in synthetic polymer
Vestigia is a body of five original works exploring permanence, absence and the survival of form. The title derives from the Latin vestigia: traces, remains, the marks left by something no longer present.
Across the series, fragments of classical sculpture, architecture and ornament emerge through shadow and negative space. The works consider what survives: partial forms, damaged memory and objects separated from their original time and function.
Each work is created by depositing tattoo pigment directly into silicone, a material engineered to approximate human skin. Removed from the body, the process carries the trace of a body without representing one.
